Farmers training by KVK Kamrup

GUWAHATI, July 24 � A one-day farmers� awareness training was organised on the improved methods of paddy cultivation at Athgoan in Kamrup district by the scientists of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kamrup on July 21 in collaboration with a Mirza-based NGO named Samaloy, a press release stated.

Speaking on the occasion, the course director the training programme, Hemchandra Saikia, subject matter specialist (agricultural economics) highlighted the improved production technology of paddy cultivation. He also enlightened the farmers how to take the advantage of the innovations of the Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat and how to be benefited by the services of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kamrup for their allround agricultural development.

Saikia also elaborated how the farmers can plan their farm production and its optimization vis-a-vis their farm income with limited available resources. Dr Subhas Kalita, programme assistant of veterinary science, who also addressed the meet, informed the farmers about some improve ways of livestock rearing viz piggery, poultry, etc., to maximize their production and farm income.

Altogether 27 farmers participated in the training programme and they requested the course director of the training programme to organise another such training programme on rabi crops in the near future.
