Farewell given to North Assam DIG

NORTH LAKHIMPUR, Oct 31 - Tearful adieu was given to the North Assam Deputy Inspector General of Police Nawab F Haque by Lakhimpur Police on Saturday. Haque retired today.

A public meeting held on the occasion at the conference hall of North Lakhimpur Police Reserve which was chaired by the SP, Lakhimpur Saudagar Singh. Prominent citizens, public figures, artists and members of the police fraternity spoke on the various aspects on the life and works of the outgoing DIG who was also the SP of Lakhimpur from 2003 to 2007. Retired principal of North Lakhimpur College Hemen Gogoi, president of North Lakhimpur Bar Association Dhebar Gohain Baruah, professor and columnist Sazzad Hussain, advocate Meenaxi G Baruah and many others spoke on the varied aspects of the career of Nawab F Haq and expressed their gratitude for the services he had rendered to the people of Lakhimpur district as its SP and thereafter.

In his address, Haq thanked everyone for the love and respect and cooperation he had received at different capacities from the public. In his president�s address, the Lakhimpur SP Saudagar Singh expressed his sincere gratitude to DIG Haq for his guidance and cooperation in his career. SP Singh termed his retirement as the completion one assignment and beginning of a different kind and assured him of rendering quality service in policing. The Lakhimpur Police also felicitated DIG Nawab F Haq and his family in that function. The farewell meeting was also attended by Addl SP, Patrick Ronghang, DSP, Dr Rashmee Sarma and all other police officers from Lakhimpur district. Later, a ceremonial send-off was given by the Lakhimpur Police on the parade ground of the police reserve to the outgoing DIG.
