Fake mediaperson arrested with brown sugar

DIBRUGARH, May 10 - In a major breakthrough, police today arrested one Rahul Verma (30), allegedly a reporter of The Dawnlit Post of Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh, from near Dibrugarh town railway station here with about 70 grams of brown sugar.

Verma was caught while he was trafficking the banned substance, Superintendent of Police Bir Bikram Gogoi said. A valid identity card of The Dawnlit Post was also recovered from his possession, SP Gogoi said. Rahul Verma (30) is a resident of PN Road, Shantipara and son of Hari Vinod Verma, a known photographer, social worker and local correspondent of Purbanchal Prahari.

This is the sixth such arrest of drug traffickers after the launch of �Operation Drugs Free Dibrugarh� by the police.

However, the authorities of The Dawnlit Post in Itanagar have reportedly rejected claim of Rahul Verma that he was associated with their newspaper. The authorities of the newspaper informed mediapersons here that the newspaper had neither issued any I-Card to Rahul Verma nor was he associated with the newspaper at any point.
