Fake certificate issuing gang busted in Dhubri

DHUBRI, June 24 - The police have arrested two persons from the Dhubri town area for allegedly issuing fake birth certificates meant for procuring PAN cards.

One Bipul Saha of LNB Road, Ward No 1, Dhubri and Bahadur Chaudhary of Bahadurtarry, Ward No 11, Dhubri were arrested from the LNB Road area where the two were operating a full-fledged office through which PAN card applications were received. Police said that the duo served their clients by issuing fake birth certificates for applying for the PAN card.

Police also informed that the duo has been operating in the Dhubri town area since long and has connections with such groups in other places too. Bipul is a tax consultant and insurance investigator and is an authorised PAN card agent, but was serving his clients by issuing fake certificates, said the police.

While talking to this correspondent in this regard, the Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Dhubri G Deka said that the matter is serious especially for a sensitive area like Dhubri. �With the use of fake certificates, these accused were issuing original PAN cards which is a valid and authorised document,� said Deka. �And this can be a threat to the national security�. The ASP also assured that a thorough investigation into the matter has already started and they will try to identify all the crients of the accused who have been issued such documents.

Meanwhile, the police recovered 150 fake birth certificates, Pan Card application forms, two CPUs along with scanner, printer, laptop and seals. Police has also registered a Case no 708/17 under Dhubri Police Station under Section 120B,121A,468,471 and 420 IPC.
