Fair on building materials soon

GUWAHATI, Sept 10 � The Indian Institute of Architects, Assam Centre, Guwahati, in association with SQUBE SOLUTIONS, is organizing an exhibition on innovative building materials titled 'Building Solutions' at the Tarun Ram Phukan Indoor Stadium (Nehru Stadium Complex) on September 19, 20 and 21.

Fifty groups from both outside and inside the State are participating in the event.

"The event will provide an opportunity to all stakeholders of the building industry to gather under one roof, helping them identify newer suppliers, witness latest innovations and exchange thoughts, through deliberations," Ramendra Baishya, chairman, Indian Institute of Architects, Assam Centre, said at a press conference today.

The event is expected to give an opportunity to the building materials industry to showcase their products and services for various usages in modern buildings for the benefit of the attending public.

�It will provide a one-stop solution for anything and everything associated with the building construction industry with respect to brands, trendy designs, latest environment-friendly innovations and technologies. There will be ample opportunity for the general public to witness the latest and improved technologies and products with reduced carbon footprint leading to greener buildings,� Baishya said.

The Assam Centre of the IIA will also hold technical seminars on two days at the venue which will be open to public. The seminars will be presented by senior practising architects of Assam.

�Architecture has come a long way, and today new products are entering the construction industry presenting a wide array of choice before users. It is essential for users including professional architects and engineers to be informed about such products to use it judiciously and efficiently leaving lesser and lesser carbon footprints,� Baishya said.

The technical sessions will have the following subjects: Scope, Transportation and Planning; Housing for the Urban Poor and Development Control Rules; Contemporary Architecture; Sustainable Development in Architecture; and Urban Re-development - Prospect and Scope.
