Facile wins for South Western, Central Rly

GUWAHATI, March 30 � South Western Railway slammed Chittaranjan Locomotive Works (CLW) by a commendable margin of 68 runs at the NF Railway Stadium, Maligaon while Central Railway trounced South Eastern Railway by nine wickets at the Judges� Field here in two group league matches of the 57th All India Inter Railway Cricket Championship today.

At Maligaon, South Western Railway piled up 279 for five in 50 overs with the help of Rajdeo Shukla�s 100-ball 119. Later, (CLW) reached 221 losing all their wickets in 45.1 overs despite a strokeful 99 by Aziz Ansari.

At Judges� Field, batting first, South Eastern gathered 235 for eight in the stipulated 50 overs, but Central captain Miling Tamble (94 n.o. off 92 balls), Praveen Deshetti (64) and Sanket Bhaye (55 n.o) turned it into an one-sided affair for them and reached the target in 37.1 overs losing one wicket.

Brief scores: South Western 279/5 (Rajdeo Shukla 119, Nilesh Khilare 63, Naveen Matti 32, Nitin Bhelle 28, K Bhattacharjee 2/44). CLW 221 (Aziz Ansari 99, K Bhattacharjee 40, Vineet Baburao 4/33, Vinayak Gudi 2/39).
