GUWAHATI, Feb 1 � The Standing Committee on Public Enterprise (SCOPE) conferred on NM Borah, Chairman and Managing Director, Oil India Limited, the SCOPE Award for Excellence and Outstanding Contribution to Public Sector Management-Individual Leader II PSE Category 2009-10, a press release stated.
The award was presented by Dr Manmohan Singh, Prime Minister of India, at a function in Vigyan Bhawan at New Delhi on January 31. The award is giving to outstanding professionals who have demonstrated their leadership and their commitment to strengthen public sector management.
The award was presented to Borah in the presence of Praful Patel, Minister of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, CEOs of CPSEs and a host of other dignitaries.
Under the leadership of NM Borah, the Oil India Limited has been on a constant growth path. The Oil India, through induction of state-of-the-art and fit-for-purpose technology, has achieved growth in production on a year-on-year basis over the last few years from its oilfields. The company�s current level of crude oil production is around 3.90 MTPA and all this production comes from its mature fields in the North East.
The OIL hopes to reach a level in excess of 4 MTPA from its North East operations in the immediate future. The natural gas production potential currently is around 8 MMSCMD with 7 MMSCMD coming from the North East and I MMSCMD from its operations in Rajasthan.
From these existing assets, the company hopes to reach a production level of around 10 MMSCMD over the next few years. Since the listing of the company on stock exchanges, investors and analysts have shown their trust in it.
