Ex-Servicemen�s re-union rally concludes at Haflong

HAFLONG, May 8 - In order to generate awareness among the ex-Servicemen (Army, Navy and Indian Air Force) about their welfare schemes and programmes, the Zila Sainik Welfare Office organised an �Ex-Servicemen Re-union Rally 2017-18� with a day-long programme at the District Library auditorium here on Friday.

The programme was attended by Colonel Parimal Panth of 22 Sector based at Haflong as the chief guest while Deepak Jidung, officer incharge of the Zila Sainik Welfare Office, Major Sailendra Yadav of 43 Assam Rifles, Kumud Kemprai, Gaonburha of Dibarai village and other officials were present as guests of honour.

A meeting held on the occasion observed a minute�s silence in honour of the departed soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the motherland.

Colonel Parimal Panth while addressing the gathering of ex-Servicemen and war widows appealed to them to avail all the welfare schemes that were formulated and implemented by the Government. Earlier, Captain S Roy of the Zila Sainik Welfare Office for both Diphu and Haflong requested the ex-Servicemen to come to the Zila Sainik Welfare Office for any queries about the welfare schemes that were meant for them.

Different communities of Dima Hasao performed their traditional dance to regale the ex-Servicemen who attended the reunion rally.

The 119 Artillery based at Haflong provided all the logistic support to organise the programme. One of the oldest ex-Serviceman of Dima Hasao at the ripe old age of 96 also attended the programme and expressed his happiness.
