DIMAPUR, Oct 5 � Naga Ex-Servicemen Association (NESA) today submitted a four-point memorandum to Chief Minister TR Zeliang to address their grievances at the earliest.
Nagaland is unable to absorb them as there are no industries or PSUs like in other States. As a result, the government is left with the only avenue of appointing the ex-servicemen as State Government employees in selected departments.
Meeting with the CM at his residential office in Kohima, the seven-member NESA delegation led by its chairman Col S Rengma demanded that the extension of services of ex-servicemen from outside the State under Directorate of Sainik Welfare be stopped and no post be made permanent so as to ensure that the ex-servicemen get equal opportunity for re-employment.
The NESA also demanded that in case there is no ex-serviceman capable for the job, his dependent be given the opportunity. It further demanded that all vacancies of posts be advertised in local dailies so as to ensure that ex-servicemen residing in remote villages are also informed.
The NESA members appealed to the State Government for urgent attention to the four-point demands and to redress the grievances at the earliest.
