Ex-militant leader set for the role of parliamentarian

By Correspondent

DIPHU, May 26 - Former leader of United Peoples Democratic Solidarity (UPDS), a one-time dreaded ultra organisation, Horensing Bey is all set for parliamentary politics.

Bey was the one of the principal signatories of the Memorandum of Settlement (MoS) signed between the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India for ending the decade-old hostility and for the promotion of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council to Karbi Anglong Autonomous Territorial Council with added governmental and fiscal reorganisation. He is presently an Executive Member of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council.

As a parliamentarian, his top priority will be to pursue the demand for creation of an Autonomous State encompassing Karbi Anglong, West Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao autonomous hill districts of Assam within the ambit of Article 244(A) of Indian Constitution.

There was a clear Modi wave in this election. It was reflected in the results, was the first reaction of a jubilant Bey. Criticising his closest rival Congress, Bey alleged that Congress is just cooking up issues of EVMs as they had no other issue to justify their defeat; they tried to give the wrong impression about the people and disregard the Election Commission. People of the country have reposed faith on Modi ji and support him to become the Prime Minister of India for the second term.
