Ex-DIG PK Dutta continues to be on the run

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Oct 2 - The Enforcement Directorate has sought a detailed list of assets owned by former DIG PK Dutta and BJP leader Dibon Deka, two of the prime accused in the SI recruitment scam. Sources in the home department stated that the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), upon receipt of the letter by the ED, has subsequently handed over a list of both moveable and immovable properties of Dutta and Deka.

However, the sources have refrained from providing details of the assets stating that they are yet to ascertain and estimate as to how much of these properties are disproportionate to their known source of income. A team of tax consultants and accountants would work on it, sources said. Sources in the ED added that it is only after proper assessment that aspects like attaching of properties would be considered.

At the moment, it is too early to comment anything on this, sources added.

Meanwhile, Deka, who was remanded to police custody on Thursday, is being questioned by the investigators at the Special Branch headquarters.

PK Dutta, however, continues to be on the run.

Meanwhile, the written test for recruitment of 597 posts of Sub Inspector (UB) of Assam Police, which got cancelled due to the leakage on September 20, has now been scheduled for November 22.

In a statement, the newly-constituted State Level Recruitment Board has assured all applicants that the examination process will be totally transparent where every applicant will get a fair opportunity to compete.

A formal notification providing procedural details will be published in due course.
