BISWANATH CHARIALI, Nov 19 - Continuing its ongoing eviction drive in the sixth addition areas of Kaziranga National Park, the Biswanath subdivisional administration recently handed over another four Tapus (river islands) in the river Brahmaputra to the Forest Department.
An eviction team led by the Executive Magistrate-cum-Circle Officer of Biswanath Revenue Circle, Sanjiv Kumar Doloi, executed the drive in Sikari Tapu, Maidan Tapu, Saibar Tapu and Polokati Tapu.
During the drive, 52 buffalo farms were evicted by the team. Later, Biswanath administration formally handed over about 4,000 hectares of land covering the four Tapus to Assistant Conservator of Forest (ACF) of Kaziranga National Park, Ramesh Gogoi.
The team was assisted by ASP (HQ), Biswanath, Samad Hussein and EACs Raj Borah, Ajit Kalita and Nisha Deka Jain.
