BONGAIGAON, Sep 1 - The door-to-door verification of documents, furnished by the citizens with their NRC (National Register of Citizens) forms, began today in the district like other districts in the State, said Biswajit Pegu, Deputy Commissioner, Bongaigaon.
According to the data furnished by district NRC unit, against 1,39,228 households as per register, a total of 1,57,331(113.00%) NRC forms were received till August 30 through 53 NRC Seva Kendras in five circles in the district, excluding the number of forms submitted on-line.
Regarding �fake� and �doubtful� documents submitted with the forms, Pegu said, �These doubtful supporting documents would be sent to the concerned department to check their authenticity, though it will take time and if any citizen is found guilty of the offence, a criminal case would be lodged against him�.
�Since our motto is to include each and every genuine citizens of the State in the NRC hence if any such citizen fails to submit the NRC form on due date, he is likely to get the last chance of submission forms with his legacy documents during the period of verification of documents till November�, Pegu said.
