NALBARI, May 9 Massive erosion by the Pagladia river at Pub-Hanapara village in Nalbari district is posing a serious threat to its left side protection bund-cum-road since the last one month.
More than eighty per cent of the bund has already been eroded by the river. The river is also posing a threat to the residents of that locality and a mosque had already been damaged in the severe erosion.
It may be mentioned here that the bundh, which was recently repaired by laying sand and gravel at a cost of Rs 5 lakh by the Barkshetri development block has also been damaged.
The people of the locality are not in a position to travel on the bund. The water Resources Department of Mukalmua has been trying to prevent the erosion caused by the river, but it has so far achieved no success.
The people have demanded an anti-erosion project at the village as soon as possible.
