By Correspondent

DOOMDOOMA, April 17 - Residents of around 10 to 12 villages of Saikhowa Hatighuli area of Tinsukia district in upper Assam are spending sleepless nights as the erosion by the river Brahmaputra in the area has taken a critical turn.

Due to the incessant rain for last two weeks in this part of the State, water level in several areas has also increased.

More than 10 metres of land has already been submerged by the river at about two-kilometre stretch. The local people have urged the Government to take immediate measures to check the erosion before the situation goes beyond control.
