Ensure fund is used with total transparency: Arunachal Guv

By Correspondent

ITANAGAR, Dec 9 - Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig Dr BD Mishra ((Retd) has suggested that for developmental schemes, the taxpayers money has to be used with well defined people-benefiting objectives, thereby maintaining total transparency and accountability.

This should be followed by review and audit of fund used and continuity of projects until their completion in a safe and secure social environment, he added.

The Governor was addressing the inaugural session of first-of-its-kind Dream Change State Conclave: Shaping a new development discourse of Arunachal Pradesh, which began at the auditorium of State Assembly here on Friday.

Stating that the initiative will be a trail blazer, which will immensely benefit the State and its people, the Governor complimented Chief Minister Pema Khandu and his team for organising the conclave.

The Governor called upon the participants to explore various means and ways for inclusive growth in the State, wherein the welfare challenges to the last man at the last rung of the society is addressed.

He urged upon the participants to focus on the 11 components, which should reach to the people, i.e., food, clothing, shelter, road, electricity, water supply, education, security, healthcare, justice and employment. The poorest of the poor must benefit from the development schemes, the Governor pointed out.

In his speech, Khandu termed the initiative historic as all stakeholders, policy-makers and experts from across the State and outside have gathered under one roof for putting their brains and expertise in framing a roadmap for Arunachal Pradesh to grow in the next 10 years.

We have been lagging behind on all fronts for long. But with the keen interest of Government of India, North East is on the path of accelerated development. As Centre is offering all its assistance for our development, its upon us to plan a time-bound roadmap for ourselves for the future. Hence this conclave, he said.
