GUWAHATI, April 8 - With a view to tackling the problem of unauthorised constructions in the city and the nearby areas, the Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has set up an enforcement team for carrying out identification, sealing and demolition of such structures.
As per an order issued by Dr M Angamuthu, Chief Executive Officer of GMDA, the enforcement team will be led by Paragmoni Mahanta, OSD, GMDA.
The enforcement team shall identify unauthorised construction within the Guwahati Master Plan Area. It has also been tasked to serve notices on the builders, developers and owners occupying buildings without occupancy certificates.
It will carry out demolition and sealing operation as per provisions of the GMDA Act, 1985, and also deal with any other matters related to unauthorised constructions.
The team will apprise the GMDA Chairman about the activities carried out on a regular basis.
