Encephalitis claims one in Golaghat district

GOLAGHAT, July 21� Dandadhar Dutta (60) of Bokial Burhagohain Khat under Marangi Mouza within Golaghat district died on July 10 due to encephalitis.

Dandadhar Dutta was brought to the KK Civil Hospital of Golaghat on July 8 for treatment, but his condition had deteriorated and was referred to Assam Medical College, Dibrugarh. The family members took him to Jorhat Medical College where Dandadhar Dutta died.

In the area of Bokial, Marangi and some adjacent areas several cases of encephalitis have been reported. People have demanded to the Health department to take viable measures for eradication of the disease.

Women infertility: In Sakiting Tea garden within Kamarbandha police station under Golaghat district a women infertility camp was held on July 15 under the aegis of the NRHM.

All total forty tea garden women workers treated. The fertility operation was performed in the Sakiting JE hospital with the help of the Ashakarmis.

The camp was conducted by Dr Taz Ahmed of Sakiting Tea Garden, Dr A Paul, gynaecologist of KK Civil Hospital, Dr Gautam Prasad Dutta and Asha fecilitator Miss Purnima Saikia.

In the camp Mohabir Singth, senior Manager of Sokiting Tea garden, Md Riazuddin Ahmed, welfare officer and health worker Sankar Mali had extended help and co-operation.
