Encephalitis

NAGAON, July 29 � With the report of death of Rekibunnesa, a 55-year-old woman of Chengmara village of Rangalu, the total number of Japanese Encephalitis (JE) deaths in Nagaon stood at 8. She died at GMCH last night. A few days back she was admitted in BP Civil Hospital and later referred to GMCH.

A 10-year-old inmate of State Home Nagaon, Munni Saikia died on July 28 at GMCH. However official sources informed that the encephalitis death toll was only three. Joint Director Health Dr A K Sharma told this correspondent that total confirmed JE deaths in Nagaon district were two. They were Madhusmita Senapati of Barapujia and Md Noor Islam of Dabaka. Another four deaths were reported but these were yet to be confirmed as JE deaths.
