Election observers to review poll process in Dhemaji, Jonai

DHEMAJI, Nov 28 - The State Election Commission has engaged an Additional Commissioner of Guwahati Municipal Corporation, Dwijen Singh as an election observer to monitor the panchayat election process in Dhemaji subdivision.

Singh, while addressing a press conference sought cooperation from mediapersons for smooth conduct of the poll process. He also requested them to report any irregularity and violation of model code of conduct to the district administration directly. The election observer explained in details about the pros and cons of the election process to avoid any violation of the model code.

The observer said that he will monitor poll campaign activities of all political parties and contesting candidates, including use of vehicles, election expenditures and initiate action against any reported violation of the model code of conduct.

Dhemaji Deputy Commissioner RA Korati, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Ankur Bharali and Dhemaji Election Officer Bharat Konwar, Dhemaji Superintendent of Police Nilesh Sawarkare and District Information and Public Relation Officer Mandira Chayengiya were present in the meeting.

On the other hand, Deputy Secretary of Sports and Youth Welfare Partha Pegu has arrived at Jonai as an election observer to supervise the poll process, according to election department sources.

Meanwhile, the political parties along with their supports have geared up their election campaign with big rallies to attract the voters. This time, the candidates are seen applying new strategies to attract the voters.
