GUWAHATI, Aug 18 - The Guwahati Senior Citizens� Association (GSCA) will felicitate Assam Agricultural University (AAU) Vice Chancellor Dr Kamal Malla Bujarbaruah and GNRC chairman and managing director Dr Nomal Chandra Borah on its 19th foundation day on August 27.
At a recent meeting, the GSCA also decided to confer the title �Nyay Ratna� on Supreme Court judge Justice Ranjan Gogoi.
The meeting criticised the provocative outburst of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over the NRC update exercise in Assam, and also condoled the deaths of Bhadra Krishna Goswami, Amal Hazarika and Ratikanta Deva Sarma.
GSCA general secretary Baneswar Khound said the Association would henceforth be directed as per the constitutional provisions of the Assam Senior Citizens� Association.
The GSCA was hitherto following its own constitution. Hem Chandra Sarma, secretary for public relations, appealed to senior citizens of the State, including those who are not members of the Association, to contribute writings to the Association mouthpiece. Uttam Baruah, secretary for social service, submitted the activity report for the past few weeks.
