Eight packets of HSLC answer scripts go missing

NAGAON, March 5 - Eight packets of HSLC examination answer scripts despatched from Hojai to Nagaon are missing in transition. The answer scripts were booked through speed posts on March 2 but was carried by private parties.

When the packets arrived at Nagaon Head Post Office at night, the delivery men found nobody at the spot and therefore left the packets at the verandah of the HPO. On Saturday morning, the Nagaon HPO authority found that 8 packets were missing. They have lodged a formal complaint with the police authority.

Packets of HS examination answer scripts booked from Hamren to Hojai are also missing in transition. These answer scripts are for the subjects Advanced Assamese, Arabic and Hindi.

Earlier on Friday candidates at the Abdul Hasib High School in Hojai had their examinations starting late due to shortage of Hindi question papers in the packets.

Later, the authorities collected the papers from Nagaon and as a result the examination began one hour late. Four hundred and thirty ccandidates appeared for the Hindi paper at the centre and there was a shortage of 58 question papers. Later, the IS, Nagaon and an ADC visited the centre to take stock of the situation.
