Eid-uz-Zuha celebrated in Meghalaya

SHILLONG, Sept 2 - Meghalaya Governor Banwarilal Purohit and Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma today greeted the Muslim community on the occasion of Id-uz-Zuha.

�On the occasion of Id-uz-Zuha (Bakrid), I convey my warm greetings and good wishes to the people of Meghalaya, especially the Muslim brethren and hope that the festival which signifies sacrifice, compassion and brotherhood will enhance the feelings of love and compassion among people and build harmony in society,� the Governor said in his message.

Conveying his greetings on the occasion, in his message, the Chief Minister said: �May the holy festival help each one of us reaffirm our commitment to the spirit of love, compassion and selflessness and further strengthen the bond of love, brotherhood and camaraderie.�

He further wished that the festival helps to �achieve a society which is truly inclusive which is a prerequisite for sustained growth and prosperity for the State.�
