HAFLONG, July 15 - Despite inclement weather and shortage of proper amenities, more than 100 officials from NF Railways and 500 odd workers are working day and night to restore the disrupted rail communication in Lumding�Badarpur Hill Section of NF Railway.
The train communication in Lumding-Badarpur Hills Section of NF Railway was disrupted as the railway track between Jatinga Lumpur New Harangajao stations in Lumding Badarpur Hill Section under Lumding Division was severely affected due to heavy rains.
Though NF Railways has targeted July 16 to complete the restoration work, but considering the volume of work, nothing can be taken as granted.
The ADRM of NF Railway, Lumding Division, S Jani, who has been monitoring the restoration work, said though all the materials for the restoration work had arrived, but there were difficulties in regard to food and amenities for the staff. He said the NF Railway has put every possible effort to restore communication as early as possible.
Bhaju Jayanti celebrated: The Gorkha Community of Dima Hasao, especially of Haflong, celebrated the Bhanu Jayanti � the 205th birth anniversary of poet Aadhi Kavi Bhanu Bhakta Acharya at the District Library auditorium with great enthusiasm on Saturday.
The day�s programme started with a procession with the portrait of Aadhi Kavi from Bhanu Chowk (Upper Bagetar) to the District Library. This was organized by the 205th Bhanu Jayanti Celebration Committee.
The function was attended by Nandita Gorlosa, Executive Member, NC Hills Autonomous Council as the chief guest while Deputy Commissioner, Dima Hasao Amitabh Rajkhowa, Deputy Superintendent of Police SK Morang and others as the guests of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, all the speakers dwelt at length on the life and also the contributions of the poet Aadhi Kavi Bhanu Bhakta Acharya and appealed to all to follow the footprints of such a great poet, who taught us to spread humanity.
In the function, meritorious students of Dima Hasao and students from the Gorkha community were felicitated.
This was followed by various competitions among youths and children, in which many from various parts of Haflong took part and performed traditional and cultural items.
Earlier, all the guests including mediapersons, were felicitated with traditional scarfs as token of love and respect.
