GUWAHATI, Jan 16 � A team of educationists, led by Dr Mridul Kumar Hazarika, Vice Chancellor of the Gauhati University, visited the Shankardeva Sishu Niketan at Pasaria Dadara village recently, with a mission to spread moral values in life among the students, a press release stated.
The teachers and students welcomed the team with phulam gamosas and devotional songs. Dr Hazarika stressed the role of honesty in life and its importance in becoming responsible citizens in future. With the help of some stories, he explained to the students how the hurdles in life can be overcome.
Dr Ramesh Barpatra Gohain, head of the Department of Law of the Gauhati University, emphasised the need of a disciplined lifestyle for the younger generation to become good citizens. Dr Jyoti Bora, principal of the Gauhati University Law College, explained the purpose of the teachings of Srimanta Sankardeva to achieve success in life.
Dr Ashutosh Kundu, senior faculty member of the BRM Govt Law College, Panjabari, called upon the students to follow the teachings of Srimanta Sankardeva to build a healthy and peaceful society. He also interacted with the students and explained the meaning of slokas from the Upanishads and explained the meaning of the Preamble of the Constitution of India and some rights and duties mentioned in the Constitution.
Mukibur Rahman, assistant professor of Pragjyotish College, Zoology Department, highlighted some incidents from the lives of Nelson Mandela and American President Barack Obama who fought for the cause of human values in life. Paresh Chandra Das, pradhan acharya of the school, offered the vote of thanks to the team.
