Education awareness programme held

HAFLONG, June 16 - To create awareness among the school going children of Retzoul about education, the Hmar Students� Association (HSA) upper Retzowl unit in association with HSA N C Hills & Karbi Anglong joint HQ organised a one-day education awareness programme at the community hall at Retzoul, some 16 km from Haflong on Wednesday.

Fleming Rupsi Shylla, Executive Member, N C Hills Autonomous Council in charge education etc., attended the programme as the chief guest while David Keivom, president, NC Hills Indigenous Students� Forum attended as the guest of honour and NK Nancy Darngawn, TV Lalringum Thiek, Dr Solomon Faihriem and Josep V Tuolor attended as the resource persons.

Fleming Rupsi Shylla speaking on the occasion appreciated the organisers for organising such an educational programme, particularly for the children of rural schools with the aim to enhance the standard of education in rural areas and also assured to give incentives to the students who come out successful in their HSLC examination from next year. He appealed to the teachers, guardians and also the students to work hard.

David Keivom, president, NC Hills Indigenous Students� Forum appealed to the executive members to extend assistance to the people of Retzuol in enhancing the education standard in the rural areas so that the people of Retzuol could support him from their core of the heart. He said that the people of Retzoul are in need of a better community hall in the village and if the NCHAC helps in this regard they would be thankful to him for ever.
