GUWAHATI, Oct 19 - The Court of Munsif No. 3, Kamrup (Guwahati) today ordered three months imprisonment for Kanak Sen Deka, Editor, Dainik Agradoot, its printer B Deka and journalist Shemim Sultana and also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on each of them in connection with a defamation suit.
The Court order came in response to a defamation petition filed by D Borkotoky of NK Productions against a news item published in the vernacular Daily in 2007 against singer Zubeen Garg. The news item had also mentioned about Borkotoky and NK Productions, which was challenged to be defamatory in nature, informed Angshuman Bora, advocate.
The suit was filed on October 10, 2007.
