�Eclectic Conversations� launched

GUWAHATI, Oct 27 - Eclectic NorthEast, an English magazine from the Northeast, is coming up with a series �Eclectic Conversations�, to be conducted at various educational institutes, to address some of the most pressing issues of the region. The sessions are initiated for providing the students a platform to interact with experts from different fields.

The first conversation from the series of �Eclectic Conversations� is going to be held at the Tata Institute of Social Science, Guwahati in alliance with Harper Collins tomorrow from 5 pm, where the Northeast launch of Kishalay Bhattacharjee�s critically acclaimed book, Blood on my hands: Confessions of Staged Encounters is also going to take place.

The topic of discussion will be �Staged Encounters in the Northeast�. What do encounters mean to those who design it? What is the context of extra-judicial killings in Assam? Why should they matter to us? All such pertinent questions would be discussed in detail by Bhattacharjee, who will be in conversation with renowned academician Udayan Misra.

Bhattacharjee is an freelance journalist and writer. Executive director of Reachout Foundation, he is also the former resident editor of NDTV.

The moderator Professor Udayan Misra, has been a fellow of the Indian Institute of Advanced Study, Shimla and till recently National Fellow of the Indian Council of Social Science Research.
