AGARTALA, Nov 30 To ensure free and fair Assembly election in Tripura, the full Election Commission will visit the poll-bound State in the first week of December, said Deputy Election Commissioner Vinod Zutshi here on Thursday.

Jutshi, who arrived here on Wednesday, held meeting with representatives of major political parties CPM and Congress to know their views on the election preparation. Later, he held a meeting with DCs and SPs to review the prevailing law and order situation in the State.

Before leaving the State, Zutshi told media that the full-fledged Commission would visit the State early next month to review the election preparation.

I had an elaborate discussion with the DMs and SPs to know the ground reality for holding free and fair election. I told SPs to prepare a list of criminals who could intimidate voters in the run up to the election slated early next year and act against them, he said.

On the security aspect, Zutshi hinted at sealing the Indo-Bangla border after issue of notification for holding 2013 Assembly election. During elections, we seal all kinds of borders be it international or inter-State. I am also election in-charge of Gujarat and ensure that the borders are sealed properly to check infiltration of criminals or illicit liquor, etc, Zutshi said. Besides, the EC will ensure full-proof security so that voters could cast their votes without any fear. An elaborate report on the deployment of security forces during the 2008 Assembly elections was sought from the police authority for taking necessary steps, Zutshi said.

The State Election machineries were asked to undertake first checking of EVMs, he said adding that the EC would also ensure preparation of error-free electoral rolls for the Assembly elections. The Dy EC said the Election Commission would issue voter slip with photos of the voter in the elections to stop false voting. The voter slips with photographs will be used as I-card during the voting, he added.
