GUWAHATI, April 2 � The District Election Officer has expressed dissatisfaction over the reported violation of model code of conduct by Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and censured him for the said violation.
The District Election Commission had taken cognizance of complaints pertaining to violation of model code of conduct on the day of filing of nomination by Sarma, who is contesting as a Congress candidate from Jalukbari constituency and also issued a show-cause notice to him.
Though Sarma replied stating that the crowd of his supporters had joined him on their own, the Commission did not find his submission satisfactory.
In another incident, Jamal Uddin Ahmed, the Congress candidate from Badarpur constituency was also censured by the Election Commission for holding a meeting without prior permission.
