Easy to unite leaders, not voters: Pala

SHILLONG, May 23 - Vincent H Pala of the Congress, who was re-elected as the Shillong MP today, has maintained that it is easy to unite leaders, but not the voters.

Pala made this statement in reference to his electoral battle against Dr Jemino Mawthoh of the United Democratic Party (UDP), common candidate of the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance which rules Meghalaya. Pala won the election by a margin of 1,52,139 votes and performed well even in constituencies represented by UDP legislators.

Thanking the people of Shillong constituency for reposing their faith in the Congress, he also expressed gratitude to the party president and workers for their hard work in ensuring victory to the party. Pala claimed that the vote share of the Congress has increased in the North Eastern region.
