East Bengal thrash Bongobir Ogragami 6-0

By Sports reporter

GUWAHATI, Sept 22 - It was virtually a no match for the Bongobir Ogragami FC, Sylhet as East Bengal President XI pumped in six goals against nil in todays Group B fixture of the 64th Bharat Ratna Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi Trophy Football Tournament.

The team from the neighbouring country was never in noticeable form as almost all the players were poor in basics. In the first session they even could not make a single attempt on the opponent goal.

Their midfielders Opu Chowdhury, Rezaul Karim and Forhad Hussain miserably failed to control the middle third of the pitch leaving ample passage for the Kolkata players. Sylhet goalkeeper Sabir Ahmed Soel, however, showed his class and made some brilliant saves.

Adeleja broke the deadlock in the sixth minute after receiving the ball from a rebound off the opponent goalkeeper. In the 34th minute, Donghyun Do doubled the lead with a solo effort. It was an eye catching goal as he dribbled his way through from the midfield before finding the back of the net with a powerful left footer.

After switching over, the East Bengal President XI continued their domination capitalising on the disorganised Sylhet defence. With a series of forays the Kolkata players tore apart the opponent defence and started scoring at their will.

Jiten Murmu made it 3-0 in the 48th minute with a sharp grounder after anticipating a thorough pass from Donghyun Do. The fourth goal was netted by Prohlad Roy with a feeble shot from the top of the box in the 60th minute. In the 67th minute, East Bengal was awarded a spot kick following a foul on Adeleja by Sylhet defender Jamil Ahmed. Donghyun Do fired home for the fifth goal.

Nikhil Poojari completed the rout with a goal in the 87th minute.

Todays match: Oil India FC, Duliajan vs 3 Star Club, Nepal.
