E-rickshaws to be monitored in Golaghat district

DERGAON, July 25 - A meeting of the District Road Safety Committee was held on Tuesday at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner�s office, a press release stated. The meeting, which was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Gaurav Bothra, discussed several issues related to road safety in Golaghat district. The Deputy Commissioner instructed the departmental officials to form a joint verification team to identify road accident black spots in the district.

He also lauded the drive against e-rickshaws carried out by officials of the District Transport Office along with district administration officials and asked the DTO Manoj Choudhury to intensify the drive in the coming days. Superintendent of Police Manabendra Dev Ray, who was also present in the meeting, said that there is a need to identify such spots and take remedial measures so that no lives are lost in the future. Representative of the Inspector of Schools informed all present that an intensive road safety awareness drive will be carried out in all schools of the district from the first week of August.

DTO Manoj Kumar Choudhury, Additional Superintendent of Police, Dhruba Bora, DSP (Hqs) Partha Protim Saikia, Joint Director, Health Services, Dr Ratul Bordoloi, Chairman, Golaghat Municipality Board, officials from NH-37, NH-39, PWD (Rural), DEEO, among others, were present in the meeting.
