Dy Speaker hints at Cong role behind Silapathar incident

By Correspondent

SILCHAR, March 15 - Expressing serious concern on the recent incident at Silapathar under Dhemaji district, Deputy Speaker and Silchar MLA Dilip Kumar Paul has said that those behind the incident which has put the State on the boil have been encouraged by tacit support from an influential national political party.

Addressing the media here on Tuesday, the Deputy Speaker hinted at Congress calling the shots as he said the mastermind behind the incident Subodh Biswas and his aides have had support from a national political party which wants to disrupt the pace of development in the State. Also, some associations and pseudo intellectuals from Barak Valley were involved in fueling the chaos at Silapathar. They wanted to create an atmosphere of unrest and strike a divide between people of both Barak and Brahmaputra valleys. The culprits will not be spared. He was quick to brush aside the role of the RSS behind the incident.

Claiming a tacit involvement of Maoists, the Deputy Speaker said that the way the meeting was held at a place which is at least 510 kms away from Guwahati and closer to the Arunachal borders gives a clear indication of the intention of the foul play. Also, he mentioned that Subodh hails from Chhattisgarh which also supports the claims. Paul informed that some of the aides of Subodh Biswas including Benimadhav Roy and others visited Barak Valley in November 2015 to hold meetings.
