GUWAHATI, March 27 � A severe dust storm today lashed Guwahati and its adjoining areas for several hours creating inconvenience for people, particularly those who were caught out of doors. Gusts of wind started around four in the afternoon and filled the atmosphere with dust and small debris. Visibility dropped within a short while in the city and movement of traffic was affected in many arterial routes. Street lights were switched on ahead of normal times at some places.
Electricity supply was disrupted in parts of the city, and cases of short circuits were reported from a few places including Nizarapar and Fancy Bazar. Hiccups in telecommunication were also observed during the dust storm.
