DIBRUGARH, Feb 24 An agreement was signed between the University of South Florida (USF) Board of Trustees, a public body corporate, located in Tampa, Florida, USA and Dibrugarh University, here today.

Maria Crummett, associate vice president, Global Affairs, on behalf of USF signed the agreement, while Dr KK Deka, Vice Chancellor, Dibrugarh University signed on behalf of DU.

The MoU aims at recognising the importance of mutual collaboration and the contribution to society made by institutions of higher education. Both parties shared a desire to develop mutually by strengthening and enriching international educational and research experiences for both faculty and students.

The primary purpose of the agreement is to provide a general basis within which specific cooperative activities of an academic and cultural nature may be implemented involving faculty and students from USF and Dibrugarh University.

Faculty and researchers in various disciplines will be encouraged to develop contacts and propose collaborative projects. Each project proposal will be considered on its merits and on availability of funds. The two institutions will seek internal and external sources for support of programmes and exchanges, which may be developed as a result of this MoU.

As specific projects in education or research are developed, each will require a written memorandum of understanding, which will set forth the terms and conditions of the projects. These memoranda will be approved and signed by appropriate administrators at each institution.

The validity period of the agreement will be three years.
