DIBRUGARH, Sept 27 � The Executive Council of the Dibrugarh University (DU) has ordered the suspension of engineer Deepali Phukan of the Planning and Construction Department of the varsity with immediate effect for her alleged involvement in swindling funds amounting to lakhs of rupees, meant for development and repair.
The alleged scam involved the supply of material and earth filling at the DU Institute of Engineering & Technology. An inquiry committee was instituted with KK Mahanta, senior advocate of the Gauhati High Court and Mrinal Kumar Phukan, engineer, Government of Assam.
