Dry weather pushes up NE temperature

GUWAHATI, May 21 � More or less dry weather condition for the past few days resulted in the rise in day temperature throughout the NE region today. At places, minimum � that is, night temperature, was also above their respective normals.

According to the Regional Meteorology Centre (RMC) sources here, Guwahati today recorded five degree Celsius above its normal maximum temperature with 36.6 degree Celsius. Its minimum temperature of 24 degree Celsius for today was also one degree above its normal for the period.

Dibrugarh recorded four degree Celsius above its normal maximum and above two degree Celsius above its normal minimum temperature with 35.5 degree Celsius and 24.8 degree Celsius respectively. Tezpur also recorded four degree Celsius above its normal maximum temperature today with 35.5 degree Celsius.

Silchar recorded three degree above its normal maximum temperature with 35.1 degree Celsius, while Dhubri recorded four degree Celsius above its normal maximum temperature with 34.5 degree Celsius. The minimum temperature recorded by this west Assam town today was also three degree above its normal for the period, sources said.

North Lakhimpur recorded four degree Celsius above its normal maximum temperature with 35.2 degree Celsius and its minimum temperature today (23.8 degree Celsius) was also one degree Celsius above its normal for the period.

On the other hand, Imphal today recorded three degree Celsius above its normal maximum temperature with 32.6 degree Celsius. The minimum temperature (22.3 degree Celsius) recorded by the capital city of Manipur today was three degree Celsius above its normal for the period.
