BARPETA, Aug 6 - Close on the heels of arrest of as many as seven JMB activists during the last one week, a drugs peddler with brown sugar was arrested in an operation by the police.
Aminul Miah, a resident of Bar Agdia near Chenga in Barpeta district was nabbed from his residence by a police team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Samiran Baishya.
The police team also recovered 750 grams of contraband brown sugar packed in seven packets. The value of the seized items is estimated at about Rs 15 lakh in the international market.
However, the source of procurement and the destination of the packets was not known.
It may be mentioned here that Barpetaroad Police also seized similar items and nabbed quite a few culprits involved with the illegal trade.
