AIZAWL, Dec 5 - A huge cache of drugs and alcohol worth Rs 6.96 lakh was destroyed in Mizoram-Assam border town Kolasib yesterday. The drugs and alcohol seized by volunteers of SRS under sub-headquarters Young Mizo Association (YMA), Kolasib were burnt by Kolasib DC Zarzosanga at Diakkawm locality.
Speaking on the occasion, Zarzosanga thanked the SRS volunteers for their effort in combating the menace of drugs. He said that rampant misuse of drug has severely affected the Mizo society and put the lives of youth at stake.
He expressed the hope that drug smuggling can be mitigated with active cooperation from the state government and the NGOs.
