Drive against unauthorised poll banners

GUWAHATI, March 12 - In view of the ensuing Assembly elections in the State, the administrations in several districts have taken stern action against banners, posters and hoardings put up unauthorizedly by political parties and defacement of public and private properties where official permission have not been taken.

The administration has so far ensured the removal and defacement of political advertisements in almost all districts going to polls. So far, the Election Department has received reports about removal of 5,986 hoardings, 5,333 posters, 4,742 banners, 1,432 party flags and 706 defacement of public and private property.
