Drinking water project opened at Kanvachal

GUWAHATI, March 11 � At a meet of the Kanvachal Khowapani Jogan Parichalana Samiti on Sunday, the members decided to press the government to improve the condition of Jogen Baruah Road in the area.

The meet held on the occasion of the inauguration of a drinking water project in the area was presided over by former Mayor Kushal Sarma.

It needs to be mentioned here that this project completed with Rs 10 lakh assistance from MP fund is expected to address the drinking water problem in the area to a great extent.

The meet while extending its thanks to Rajya Sabha MP Bhubaneshwar Kalita and MLA Robin Bordoloi for taking initiative to resolve the drinking water scarcity in the area, observed that the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) should take interest in the problems of the public and address them.

The drinking water project was inaugurated by Robin Bordoloi. More than 100 families would be benefited by this project.

�The garbage disposal system and cleaning of drains is not sufficient in the area. But the authorities concerned have been ignoring these issues,� said a resident of the area.

The meet resolved to make the area a zero garbage zone and called upon the authorities concerned to extend all the possible help in this regard.
