JALUKBARI, Aug 27 - �We used to always see airplanes fly over our houses and wondered whether we would ever get a chance to sit inside one... And now it has come true for most of us at MKM Primary School.�
These were the first words from Prince, a kid from MKM Primary School, Garal here who was embarking on a flight for the first time in his life. Twenty children and students of the school were taken to Delhi on Monday by Airports Authority of India Guwahati.
Under the corporate social responsibility programme, AAI organised an educational tour for these school children who boarded the Air Asia flight from Guwahati Airport to Delhi on Monday morning.
Interacting with the children at the airport, Sanjeev Jindal, Regional Executive Director, AAI North-Eastern Region said that the day he joined here, he first visited these school children at the Garal Community Centre and had assured them that if their school management wished, he could take them for air travel.
As a responsible organisation, AAI is always concerned for the people affected by airport projects, he added. �We are striving to connect privileged with unprivileged people in and around airports,� he said.
The Garal Community Centre near the LGBI Airport is being constructed under the CSR scheme of AAI for Rs 2.37 crore.
Special guest of the occasion actress Barsha Rani Bishaya greeted the children and also thanked AAI for such a wonderful initiative. She also handed over the boarding passes to the children at the airport and said, �I feel privileged to be a part of this occasion and this initiative of AAI will definitely encourage children to do better and choose job-oriented courses in future.�
Ramesh Kumar, Airport Director, and senior AAI officials were also present at the airport to see off the children. Local community guests from Garal, Air Asia airline and employees of travel agency Pushpak were also present on the occasion.
A total of 30 people from MKM Primary School including students, children and teachers visited New Delhi. The children�s parents were also invited to see their children board an aircraft.
