Drama shows to fund sick actress� treatment

DOOMDOOMA, Aug 28 - Eminent stage actress and popular Bihu dancer Nirmali Konwar Gogoi has been suffering from critical ailments since the last three years.

Having millions of dreams to live and perform on the stage yet again, her condition, however, has been deteriorating with every passing day.

Three years ago, she had undergone a surgery in a hospital outside Assam and after that she secured a prize in a mono acting competition organised by Asom Natya Sammelan. She also acted in several full-fledged and one-act plays after her surgery.

However, in recent times her health condition has deteriorated yet again. Presently, she requires a considerable amount of money for her treatment.

In order to raise funds for her treatment, Abhinava Natya Mancha (ANAM), an amateur theatre group of Doomdooma, of which Nirmali is also a member, has resolved to stage three dramas at Doomdooma Sakha Sahitya Sabha Bhawan on September 14 and 15.

On the first night, Kuranganayani Aru Ek Sakti - Raghav Moran, written and directed by Joysuryya Bora will be staged. Prior to that, a children�s drama titled , Light, Camera, Action written by Gunjan Bharali will be staged under the direction of Nayan Deka.

On the following night, Joymoti written and directed by Rajib Lochan Bora will be staged. Over 50 new and veteran actors and actresses of Doomdooma will act in these dramas. Rehearsal of the darmas are going on in full swing.

The president and secretary of ANAM have urged all sections of the people to contribute wholeheartedly for this noble cause.
