GUWAHATI, April 2 - The 8th National Dragon Boat Racing Championship organised by the Assam Traditional Sports and Dragon Boat Association will be held from April 4 to 6 at Machkhowa here.

This is for the third time that the national championship is being organised in the State. The second edition of the championship was held at Pit-Kati Beel, Hajo, the seventh at Jalukbari while it will be held at the Brahmaputra this time.

The championship is being organised with support from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. The Directorate of Sports and Youth Welfare, Assam has extended full support for organising the championship.

Around 450 participants and officials from 21 different States/teams are expected to take part in the championship.

The teams are : Andaman and Nicobar, Assam, Delhi, Gujarat, Gujarat Fire and Rescue, Goa, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Punjab, Punjab University, SWTD, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, 3 EME Bhopal and West Bengal.
