Draft electoral rolls published in Cachar dist

SILCHAR, Dec 25 - The Cachar district administration along with the district Election Office has formally published the Draft Electoral Roll 2020.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Submit Sattawan and District Election Officer Sudip Nath officially presented the Draft Electoral Roll before media persons at the conference hall of Deputy Commissioner on Monday.

Later, addressing the media, Sattawan said that while the integrated draft electoral roll has been published both online (www.nvsp.in) and offline, the period of filing claims and objections will be open till January 22, 2020.

Sattawan said that disposal of claims shall be done by February 3, and preparation of suppliments for the roll shall be wrapped up by February 11. �We shall follow all the necessary procedures and publish the final electoral roll on February 14, 2020,� the ADC said.

Nath, while elaborating on the draft roll, informed that there are 11,69,012 voters across 1,461 polling stations in Cachar district (excluding 4,400 service voters).

Of the total voters, 6,02,630 are male and 5,66,326 are female. There are 56 voters belonging to the third gender in the district, he added.

Nath also informed that there are 4,207 �Doubtful� voters in the district, including the maximum of 1,198 in Katigorah constituency, 217 in Sonai, 232 in Lakhipur, 531 in Borkhola constituency, 579 in Udharbondh, 822 in Dholai and 628 D voters in Silchar constituency.

The officials informed that voters can avail specific forms 6,6A, 7 and 8 for new entries, NRI voters entry, deletion/death and correction, respectively, on the electoral roll by submitting essential documents within the mentioned dates.
