Draft electoral rolls of Udalguri published

UDALGURI, Oct 14 - The draft electoral rolls of Udalguri (ST), Mazbat and Panery LACs were published at the Deputy Commissioner�s office of Udalguri district recently.

Disclosing this, Sadhana Hojai, Deputy Commissioner of Udalguri district appealed to all concerned to have a cautious look into the published roll and take necessary steps if to correct or enrol new voters in it by December 7 of this year.

Addressing a press meet on the occasion, N Pathak, Election Officer of Udalguri district, informed that a revised schedule for summary revision of electoral roll is also prepared for the greater interest of the voters of the three constituencies of Udalguri district.

The period of filling of claims and objections will be from October 12 to November 11, reading of relevant part/section of photo electoral rolls in Gram Sabha/local bodies meetings etc., and verification of electors� names will be on October 15 and October 29.

Special campaign dates with booth-level agents of political parties for receiving claims and objections will be on October 18 and November 1. Disposal of claims and objections will be December 7 and updating the database, merging of photographs, updating the control tables and preparation and printing of supplementary lists will be done by December 24, while the final electoral rolls of the three constituencies under Udalguri district will be published on January 11, 2016.

On the occasion, the election officer appealed particularly to those voters under the three constituencies who were yet to submit their photographs to respond quickly to the concerned BLOs of their respective locality by December 7 to get their photos published in the final electoral rolls.

It is worth mentioning that there are 3,79,765 voters in the three legislative constituencies of Udalguri district � 64 Panery, 69 Udalguri (ST reserved) and 70 Mazbat, including 1,83,050 female voters, while 64 Panery LAC has 3,289 D-voters, 1,481 in 69 Udalguri LAC and 3,298 in 70 Mazbat LAC.

After rationalisation, the total number of polling stations as on October 12 is as follows: 164 in 64 Panery LAC with 11 new polling stations, 163 in 69 Udalguri LAC with four new polling stations and 165 in 70 Mazbat LAC with 15 new polling stations.

As on October 12, the draft electoral roll recorded 1,26,838 voters in 64 Panery LAC, including 61,158 female voters, 1,27,844 voters in 69 Udalguri LAC, including highest 62,402 female voters and 1,25,083 voters in 70 Mazbat LAC, including lowest 59,490 female voters.

The election officer also added that preparation was made to give a wide publicity to aware the voters of the three constituencies by way of various possible means.
