Dr Singh, Modi to campaign in Sivasagar

SIVASAGAR, March 27 � As election fever has gripped the district, the stage has been set for Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh�s visit to Sivasagar to campaign for the Congress candidate for the Jorhat HPC, Bijoy Krishna Handique.

According to sources, Dr Singh will address a public rally at the Khumtai pologround under the Mahmora LAC at 11 am on March 29. The Prime Minister will be accompanied by Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, APCC president Bhubaneswar Kalita, Power Minister Pradyut Bordoloi, local MLA Sarat Saikia and Handique himself, said Congress spokesperson Pradip Sensharma.

Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi will also campaign for Handique at an election rally at the Joyrapar playground tomorrow. Gogoi will also attend another rally at Sonari on the same day.

On the other hand, the BJP�s Prime Ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi will address a rally in support of his party�s Jorhat HPC candidate, Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, here on March 31. Modi will try to woo voters at the Darbar Field here to capture the Jorhat HPC from the Congress.
