SIVASAGAR, Sept 25 - Dr Moyidul Islam Bora Award instituted by Dr Moidul Islam Bora Smriti Rakhya Samity and Arunudoi Sahitya Sabha in the name of an illustrious son of the State, the first Assamese doctorate, the first Assamese Vice- Chancellor of the prestigious Dhaka University, former president of Asam Sahitya Sabha and a noted litterateur, was presented to writer Ismail Hussain recently by former Chief Minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta in a meeting held on the occasion of Dr MI Bora�s 117th birth anniversary at Rongpurjyoti Club, Sivasagar.
Mahanta in his speech said that we can rightly be proud of having a secular society in Assam only due to towering personalities like Dr Moyidul Islam Bora, who was a brilliant mind of his time. The meeting was presided over by Prema Gogoi, former president Asom Kavi Sanmilan and was attended by Sonaram Boruah, president, reception committee, the 74th Asam Sahitya Sabha session to be held at Sivasagar, Lakhi Kanta Mahanta, Rana Khan and many other senior citizens.
