GUWAHATI, Feb 13 � The condition of eminent litt�rateur Dr Mamoni Raisom Goswami continues to be critical according to doctors attending on her at Gauhati Medical College Hospital where she was admitted last night.
Dr Goswami is undergoing treatment in an Intensive Care Unit where she is on ventilator support. Her pulse rate is high and some organs could have been affected, doctors revealed. �She is suffering from pneumonia with several complications,� a doctor stationed in the ICU stated.
Senior doctors from several departments, including Medicine, Cardiology, Neurology, Nephrology, and Critical Care are treating the Jnanpith Award winner. They have been monitoring and assessing her state of health on a regular basis.
Those treating her describe her condition as one of concern, and added that she was not in a state to be shifted to another facility for treatment.
Dr MM Deka, Principal and Chief Superintendent of Gauhati Medical College Hospital said Dr Goswami�s condition is still critical, as she is suffering from acute respiratory problems and septicemia. He added that she has been treated under the established protocol of the ICU, and doctors are hopeful that she would make a slow and steady recovery.
